WGLS-FM receives national recognition from Pinnacle Awards
Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM received national recognition for two programs in the 2025 Pinnacle Awards competition on Oct. 16 in Washington, D.C.
The Rowan Report earned second place for Best Audio Newscast. The submission featured anchor Leah Thorpe and the Rowan Radio News Department recapping the week’s top stories including the grand opening of Rowan University’s Student Center expansion.
The Rowan Report Election Night Special won second place in the Special Event Coverage category for audio and video productions. The award-winning entry featured the Rowan Radio News Department providing live coverage of the 2024 Presidential Election.
Also, the program included updates on other critical election results, interviews with political experts, and stories on the top issues impacting voters.
The Communicator Awards and Hermes Creative Awards also honored The Rowan Report Election Night Special last spring.
Presented by College Media Association during its national convention, the Pinnacle Awards annually recognize the best student work in collegiate journalism, media production and organizational excellence. This year's competition included over 3,300 entries.
Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM has won over 390 regional and national awards since 1993 including College Radio Station of the Year in 1997, 2022, and 2023.
