Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM won three Hermes Creative Awards in the organization’s annual competition May 1.

Beyond the Brown & Gold, a podcast about the lives and accomplishments of Glassboro State College/Rowan University alumni, received a Platinum award in the Audio Podcast division.

Hosted by Jessica Kanady and Rob Lightfoot, the award-winning entry featured an interview with former Rowan University Football quarterback Tony Racioppi. The former All-American discussed his Rowan playing days and his work with the esteemed Manning Passing Academy.

This is the second award for the Racioppi episode. Last February, the Broadcast Education Association’s Festival of Media Arts competition awarded Beyond the Brown & Gold with Best of Competition in the organization’s Faculty & Staff Audio Long Form Production category.

The Rowan Report Election Night Special won a Gold Award in the Audio Program division. The show included live coverage of the 2024 Presidential Election and other important political battles.

In addition, the Rowan Radio News Department compiled interviews with voters and political experts on key voting issues for the special program.

The 2024 Pro Football Draft Show earned a Gold Award in the Audio Sports category. The Rowan Radio Sports Department delivered live coverage of the NFL Draft through reports and analysis on each team’s first-round selections. The program included an interview with Rowan University alumnus and adjunct instructor Ed Benkin of ESPN Radio and Rowan University professor Mike Rosenstein.

Presented by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals, the annual Hermes Awards recognize creative excellence among college students, individuals, media, and Fortune 500 companies.

Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM has won more than 360 national and regional awards since 1993 including Best College Radio Station of the Year in 2022 and 2023.
