Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering soars in latest rankings

Rowan University’s undergraduate engineering programs have experienced a rapid ascent in the U.S. News & World Report’s annual college rankings over the last five years, including a 25-spot jump in 2027. 

In the 2027 U.S. News & World Report college rankings released this week, Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering’s bachelor’s programs climbed 25 places from #112 to #87 among the country’s top 200 Ph.D.-granting colleges, representing a 51-spot increase since the college joined the nation’s most prestigious group of doctoral engineering schools in 2023. 

The school’s rising reputation reflects the work of its faculty, staff and students, along with a comprehensive strategic plan, said Dean Giuseppe Palmese.  

“I think our growth has been exceptional,” Palmese said. “Over the last five years, we’ve leaned into our partnerships with industry and expanded our research programs. That’s resulted in new curricula, more internships and co-op opportunities, and more hands-on clinic projects for our students.” 

Founded in 1995 in honor of the University’s benefactor, the college now counts more than 6,000 alumni, and enrolled more than 2,000 undergraduate and graduate students last academic year. It offers 10 undergraduate engineering and technology programs, seven master’s programs and eight Ph.D. programs.
