South Jersey Connects expands free shuttle service throughout region

Rowan University students who depend on mass transit have more options than ever. 

South Jersey Connects, an initiative of the South Jersey Transportation Authority, is a new shuttle service designed to increase accessibility in Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem counties during an 18- to 24-month pilot program.

Funded by NJ Transit, South Jersey Connects received $5 million for new 20-person buses and infrastructure improvements. During the pilot program, which is 18-24 months, passengers can ride free of charge.

The routes create accessibility for residents by offering transportation to healthcare facilities, college campuses, retail destinations, government services and other public facilities. Following the pilot program, partners will evaluate community needs and explore long-term expansion of the routes.
