Cooper Medical School of Rowan University has joined the Global Consortium of Innovation and Engineering in Medicine, an international public-private-government collaborative serving the world as the premier global network to advance medicine through engineering and innovation.

The consortium brings together medical schools, universities, researchers and students, industry and government leaders, philanthropists, and foundations from across the globe to support education, research and innovation in areas such as medical devices, digital health and systems-based care. Membership provides CMSRU faculty and students with opportunities to collaborate globally on projects that integrate medicine, engineering and entrepreneurship.

“Joining this consortium strengthens our ability to connect medical education with engineering and translational research,” said Mark Byrne, PhD, senior associate dean and executive director for medical innovations programs at CMSRU. “It creates meaningful opportunities for our faculty and students to work across disciplines and institutions to address complex health care challenges.”

Participation in the consortium aligns with CMSRU’s broader emphasis on applied research, innovation and partnerships that support economic development and improved health outcomes.

“CMSRU’s inclusion in this global consortium reflects our commitment to preparing physicians who are equipped to lead in a rapidly evolving health care environment,” said Annette C. Reboli, MD, dean of CMSRU. “Collaboration with institutions around the world enhances our ability to translate discovery into better care for the communities we serve.”

CMSRU plans to participate in consortium-led educational initiatives, collaborative research efforts and innovation forums designed to support interdisciplinary learning and global engagement.
