Spring at Rowan to showcase theater, music, visual arts
Rowan University’s College of the Arts and the RU Art Gallery & Museum have launched into a vibrant and wide‑ranging spring arts season, offering audiences everything from Broadway visionaries to student‑driven performances to orchestral masterworks and powerful contemporary art.
Highlights of the season include An Evening with Rachel Chavkin Feb. 23. Chavkin, the Tony Award-winning director behind “Hadestown” and “Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812,” will take part in an evening of conversation and insight into her creative process.
From Feb. 26-March 1, the MainStage Season will present “Changes of Heart (The Double Inconstancy),” bringing Marivaux’s classic romantic comedy to modern audiences.
The Marie Rader Presenting Series adds signature flair throughout the semester. On Feb. 28, internationally acclaimed ensemble ,” followed on March 14 with The Philly Pops: “Blockbusters in the ‘Burbs,” a program of film favorites and symphonic showstoppers.
Musical offerings continue as the Rowan Wind Ensemble presents “Time Unfolding” Feb. 25; the Rowan University Symphony Orchestra’s Spring Concert March 5; and the Concert Choir March 7.
Highlights continue with the Percussion Ensemble April 20, the Rowan Jazz Band April 23, Rowan Choirs April 25, and the Wind Ensemble’s season finale, “Spirits of Spring,” April 28.
Theater lovers can look forward to College of the Arts productions of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “Cinderella,” April 10–12, followed by the annual Faculty & Student Choreography Showcase April 24–26.
Visual art anchors the season in the Rowan University Art Gallery & Museum (soon to be the Rowan University Museum of Contemporary Art), which will be renamed with the reopening ribbon cutting of the Westby Hall gallery March 12. That program will feature Devan Shimoyama’s “Shift” through March 21, followed by Jazlyne Sabree’s “The Spectrum of Resilience,” April 6 through June 27.
Together, these events offer a rich tapestry of creativity, community and artistic excellence across Rowan’s Glassboro campus. So come out, be inspired, and enjoy!
