Three Cooper Medical School of Rowan University students are celebrating early Match success after securing positions in two of the most competitive medical specialties —  Ophthalmology and Urology.

Jason Betz matched in Ophthalmology with Larkin Community Hospital in South Miami, Fl., while Angelica Piccini will continue her Ophthalmology training at SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn, NY. Mitchell Finkelstein achieved an early match in Urology at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Ala.

Both Ophthalmology and Urology participate in early match processes and are among the most competitive fields of medicine, requiring extensive preparation, strong academic performance and a demonstrated commitment to the field.

“These early matches are a tremendous source of pride for our entire community,” said Annette C. Reboli, MD, dean of CMSRU. “Jason, Angelica and Mitch have set an outstanding tone for the Class of 2026 as we head into Match Day, and their success reflects the dedication, talent and hard work of our students and the faculty mentors who support them.”

Their accomplishments mark an exciting start to the 2026 residency match season for CMSRU. A total of 105 students from the Class of 2026 will participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) Match Day on Friday, March 20, 2026.
