Holloway interviews Corsaro about magic and marketing

It’s on.

Rowan University next week will launch Rowan On, a new podcast and video series created to give audiences an inside look at the people, ideas and hands-on work that define the University.

More than a traditional interview podcast, Rowan On is an experience, one that brings viewers and listeners directly into the places where learning happens and dreams to turn action.

At its core, Rowan On reflects how Rowan approaches education itself: immersive, applied and driven by real-world impact.

So, what is Rowan On?

Hosted by Karen Holloway, assistant director of digital media and production, each episode unfolds in two parts. First, an immersive segment where Holloway steps into the work of her guests, whether that means brewing beer, unearthing fossils, stepping behind the microphone or learning the mechanics behind a magic trick. That experience then opens into a deeper conversation about career paths, industries and how Rowan prepares people to thrive in them.

“Rowan has always been a place where you don’t just study something, you do it,” Holloway said. “Rowan On brings that philosophy to life. I’m not just asking questions; I’m learning alongside our audience, trying new things, and showing what it really looks like to roll up your sleeves here.”

Guests span faculty, students, alumni and staff, all connected by a shared belief in hands-on learning and the confidence that comes from doing meaningful work early and often.

Built for how people engage today

Produced by Michael DiGiorgio, director of digital media and production, Rowan On was designed with a digital-first mindset, created to live across platforms where audiences already spend their time.

“This isn’t about dropping an episode and hoping people find it,” DiGiorgio said. “We’re intentionally creating moments that can travel, short clips, visuals and stories that resonate on LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok or wherever the conversation is happening. The goal is to meet people where they are and invite them into the Rowan experience.”

That approach mirrors how Rowan itself continues to grow, by adapting, experimenting and taking smart risks to reach new audiences in meaningful ways.

Why a podcast … and why now?

For Holloway, the podcast fills a gap between curiosity and clarity.

“Students and families want to understand what a path actually looks like, what you’ll learn, what you’ll do and where it can take you,” she said. “If someone is curious about paleontology, entrepreneurship, broadcasting or brewing science, Rowan On lets them hear directly from people living that work, right now.”

Rather than positioning success as a single track, the series highlights how Rowan supports multiple pathways, traditional, creative and interdisciplinary, helping learners build careers on their own terms.

A big first season

Season One of Rowan On features six episodes, each filmed on location across campus and the region. Scenes include the Edelman Fossil Park & Museum, Bonesaw Brewery in Glassboro, the Chamberlain Student Center and Business Hall, spaces where Rowan’s hands-on culture is on full display.

Season One guests include:

  • David Corsaro, alumnus, magician and marketing executive — Rowan On Magic & Marketing
  • Ken Lacovara, Ph.D., founding executive director of the Edelman Fossil Park & Museum —Rowan On Paleontology
  • Derek Jones, station manager, WGLS-FM —Rowan On Broadcasting
  • Matt Farber, Ph.D., brewer and associate professor of Biological & Biomedical Sciences —Rowan On Brewing Science
  • Jessica Vattima, director, Rowan Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship —Rowan On Entrepreneurship

John Veilleux, Rowan’s inaugural chief marketing officer, said the series reflects the University’s broader brand direction and commitment to showing—not telling—what makes Rowan different.

Rowan On is about visibility and authenticity,” Veilleux said. “We want people to see the confidence, curiosity and purpose that define this community. Just as Rowan meets students where they are—on campus, online or somewhere in between—this series meets audiences where they are and invites them to imagine what’s possible.”
