Rowan and BAYADA Home Health Care to strengthen nursing workforce with innovative partnership

“More. Great. Nurses” 

That was the chant echoing through the room as BAYADA founder and chairman of the board Mark Baiada energized the crowd during a ceremonial signing event on Nov. 17 at Rowan University. The celebration launched a new agreement between Rowan and BAYADA Home Health Care, the nation’s largest independent nonprofit home health care provider. The partnership creates a debt-free pathway for aspiring nurses and expands access to high-quality home health care in the region. 

Designed to upskill caregivers and create new opportunities for career advancement in nursing, Rowan University Chancellor Tony Lowman said this is exactly the type of partnership Rowan is looking for. 

“This collaboration strongly supports Rowan’s mission to deliver accessible, career-focused education that meets the growing demand for nurses in New Jersey and across the nation,” said Lowman. “Together, we’re expanding opportunities for individuals and reinforcing the health-care systems our communities depend on.” 

The New Jersey Nursing Collaboration Center projects a shortage of more than 24,000 nurses by 2036. This collaboration seeks to tackle that challenge by removing financial and logistical barriers for aspiring nurses. Beginning in January 2026, the inaugural cohort will take courses at Rowan University and Rowan College of South Jersey, creating a streamlined path from home health aide to licensed practical nurse (LPN). Participants will benefit from: 

• Tuition reimbursement through BAYADA’s loan repayment program 
• Personalized student success coaching to guide learners through their academic journey 
• Expert transition support into clinical practice via BAYADA’s nationally accredited Nurse Residency Program 

“We believe investing in our clinicians is essential to reducing the nursing shortage and helping more families access the healthcare they desire and deserve,” said Mike LaRosa, development division director for BAYADA. “By partnering with Rowan, BAYADA will make more great nurses available for our community.” 

Rowan’s investment in healthcare education continues with the construction of a new 42,000-square-foot nursing school building scheduled to open in fall 2026. Together with partners like BAYADA, Rowan is building education opportunities to elevate careers, enrich communities and improve lives throughout South Jersey and beyond. 

The program is open to current and aspiring BAYADA caregivers. Individuals who are not yet employed by BAYADA may apply for a position to become eligible.
