Dr. John Robertson named director of population health education and research at CMSRU

Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU) has appointed John F. Robertson, Jr., MD, as director of population health education and research. He joins the Office of Program Development and Strategic Initiatives, led by Erin Pukenas, MD.
Robertson has been an integral part of the CMSRU community since its founding in August 2012. A graduate of Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at Camden, he completed his residency in family medicine at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, where he served as chief resident and contributed to the program’s recognition as a patient-centered medical home.
Throughout his career, Robertson has focused on the intersection of clinical care, education, and population health. He currently serves as chief medical officer of All Care Health Alliance, an accountable care organization affiliated with Cooper University Health Care. In that role, he has worked to improve care coordination and outcomes for patients with complex needs, while advancing population-based strategies across Cooper’s primary care system.
He is also a dedicated educator, working closely with CMSRU students during their third and fourth years and mentoring residents in the family medicine residency program. His teaching emphasizes the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care.
In his new role, Robertson will expand population health education for current healthcare professionals and future physicians. He will also lead the development of stackable certificate programs, which will culminate in a new master’s degree in population health management.
“Dr. Robertson’s appointment marks an exciting step forward in CMSRU’s commitment to advancing population health education and research,” said Dr. Annette C. Reboli, dean of CMSRU. “His deep expertise in clinical care and population health, combined with his passion for teaching, make him uniquely suited to lead this important initiative. We are proud to have him expand our efforts to prepare the healthcare workforce to meet the evolving needs of the communities they serve.”
Robertson’s appointment reflects CMSRU’s ongoing commitment to integrating education, research, and clinical practice to improve health outcomes across the region.
