Support for faculty converting and developing courses
Rowan Online is holding a five-part series to discuss faculty services and transforming courses.
The third session, Building Online Success Together, was held Feb. 26 in Chamberlain Student Center and featured examples of engaging online courses, including some in Nursing.
Participants discussed key concepts in online course creation such as program ownership and the inclusion of a “curriculum map” in successful courses. (See a full Webex recording.)
The meeting also identified academic initiatives critical to online student success, and administrators leading them:
- Outcome Mapping: Documenting curriculum maps for programs and objectives (Jeff Bonfield)
- Campus Digital: Innovating in single-section courses for campus-based students (Morris Kalliny)
- Academic Integrity: Ensuring honesty and fairness across learning modalities (Rory McElwee)
Speakers noted that though Rowan is focusing full program offerings to about 20 for the time being, it is expanding the number of single-section online courses offered. The University currently offers about 400 single-section online courses for campus-based students and plans to offer about 150 more per year in the coming years.
The fourth installment begins at 3 p.m. March 27 in Eynon Ballroom and fifth in April (date TBD).
