Starting the year with care, respect and belonging

As we begin 2025 and the spring semester, we invite you to reflect on what makes our University a truly special place: the diversity, kindness and mutual respect that unite us. The start of a new year is an opportunity to recommit to these values and to support one another in creating an inclusive and vibrant community for all.

Let’s continue to strengthen our community by:

  • Respecting each other: Every member of our community deserves to feel valued and safe. Let’s be mindful of the words we use, actions we take and the impact they have on others.

At Rowan, there is absolutely no room for discrimination or harassment, whether written or spoken.

To report discrimination, harassment and retaliation, students can visit the Office of Student Equity & Compliance reporting website. If you prefer to speak over the phone, please call (856) 256-5830. If you prefer to remain anonymous, call the 24-hour Alert-line at 855-431-9967. And, for emergency reports, call Rowan University Department of Public Safety at 856- 256-4922.

Employees can visit https://sites.rowan.edu/equity/, 856-256-5494, using the Alertline 855-431-9967, or fill out an online form at http://rowan.edu/integrityline

  • Taking care of yourself: The new year often brings renewed goals and busy schedules. It’s important to prioritize your well-being, stay connected with resources and seek support when needed.

Counseling & Psychological Services in the Wellness Center provides quality, confidential counseling to students. To schedule an appointment with a counselor, contact the Wellness Center at 856-256-4333. After hours, students in crisis should call 856-256-4911 and ask to speak to the counselor on call. Crisis counseling is available 24/7.

Free, private access to teletherapy and mental health crisis support is available through Uwill. Open to all students with a Rowan email, Uwill allows you to book an appointment in minutes. Students can choose a confidential therapist based on preferences in focus areas, including gender, language and ethnicity. Appointments can be on days, evenings and weekends via video, phone, chat or message.

In addition, Employee Advisory Service (EAS) offers confidential assessment, counseling, and referral services to employees. For emergency mental health services, call 1-866-327-9133 to speak to a Mental Health Specialist 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please visit Human Resources  or the Center for Well-Being  for more information on resources and support for employee well-being.

  • Looking out for one another: If you see someone in need of help or support, don’t hesitate to step in or reach out to campus resources. Together, we can make a difference.

We know that the University can seem like a big place, especially when something troubling happens and you need support. If you or someone you know could benefit from assistance navigating and accessing resources and services available at Rowan when faced with challenges or unforeseen circumstances, you can submit a Care Referral on your/their behalf. This will connect you to Care Case Coordinators and other University Officials who are knowledgeable about the full range of resources offered at Rowan. These dedicated individuals work closely with campus partners to address student concerns, seek resolutions, and help students build problem-solving skills.

In addition, individuals with concerns and/or in need of assistance may contact the Office of the Vice President of Student Life/Dean of Students (3rd floor Savitz Hall). If you would rather, you may submit information using our on-line resource

To further support our shared commitment to inclusion and belonging, we encourage you to connect with the Division of Inclusive Excellence, Community and Belonging. This division is dedicated to fostering an environment where everyone can thrive and feel at home. For more information about cultural student organizations, identity-specific centers, and inclusive leadership opportunities, connect with the Office of Social Justice & Belonging.

Let’s continue to build a campus where care, respect and belonging guide our actions.

Wishing you a joyful and fulfilling year ahead!
