WGLS-FM honored in multiple categories
Continuing a record of national recognition, Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM this month received several awards by College Broadcasters Inc. and College Media Association in annual awards competitions.
Presented in New Orleans, the College Media Association's Pinnacle Awards recognized WGLS-FM in five categories.
The Early Bird Special earned first place honors for Best Audio Talk/Entertainment Program. Airing Monday through Friday from 7-9 a.m., the show features Rowan Radio members entertaining listeners and playing the station’s signature “Music That Matters."
The Rowan Report received second place honors for Best Audio Newscast. The weekly program recaps top news stories from around the country. Earlier this year, The Rowan Report garnered a second-place nod in the Broadcast Education Association's Festival of Media Arts contest for Best Newscast.
The Pro Football Draft Show received second place honors for Best Audio Sportscast. Produced by Rowan Radio Sports Director Aidan Dougherty and the WGLS-FM Sports Department, the program provided live coverage and analysis of the 2024 NFL Draft.
The Rowan Report Election Night Special received third place honors in the Best Audio Special Event Coverage category. The Rowan Radio News Department analyzed the local and national 2023 election cycle, especially key issues to voters.
In addition, the station earned Honorable Mention in the Best College Radio Station of the Year contest.
College Broadcasters Inc. last month recognized Rowan Radio in the organization’s National Student Media Production Awards contest.
The Rowan Report Presents True Crime Collective with Carly Murray received second place honors for Best Podcast. The podcast series examined past crimes and how they impacted communities.
Now celebrating its 60th anniversary, Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM has won more than 360 awards in regional and national competitions.
