Dr. Lalovic-Hand won PhillyCIO’s ORBIE award in the Large Corporate Category.

Rowan University Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer Dr. Mira Lalovic-Hand has been honored with a prestigious CIO award that recognizes her for exceptional leadership, innovation and vision.

Lalovic-Hand received the ORBIE award from PhillyCIO, the preeminent peer leadership network of Philadelphia chief information officers, at an awards program earlier this month. More than 300 regional technology leaders and their guests gathered at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown on Oct. 4 to celebrate their peers’ accomplishments in the areas of management effectiveness, the creation of business value through technology innovation and engagement in industry and community endeavors.

In her 11 years as CIO, Lalovic-Hand has helped steer Rowan University through a decade of dramatic change and rapid growth. Under her leadership, the Division of Information Resources & Technology (IRT) has improved network speed, reliability and access, fortified the University’s cyber infrastructure, developed business intelligence and analytics programs to help attract and retain students, and established an information security risk management program that drives process improvement.

“This award recognizes far more than my own work,” said Dr. Lalovic-Hand. “It represents the extraordinary work of all the teams in IRT who maintain a secure and productive digital ecosystem while empowering the campus community to achieve excellence by constant innovation.”

Lalovic-Hand, who was honored in the Large Corporate category, was the only higher education executive recognized at the ceremony.

Also recognized with 2024 ORBIE awards were:

  • Dave Williams, Chief Information & Digital Officer, Merck
  • Baker Smith, SVP & CIO, Aramark
  • Kristie Edling-Day, EVP & CIO Advisor Experience, LPL Financial
  • Sarah Foss, CTO, Audacy
  • Priya Serai, CIO, Zeus Fire & Security
  • Luke Olenoski, SVP & CIO, Main Line Health

"Great CIOs know technology moves fast, and connected leaders move faster, which makes the ORBIE Awards significant," Joshua Beeman, PhillyCIO Chair, said in a statement. "Winners are selected by CIOs who understand the demands of technology leadership.”
