On Thursday, May 9, the Rowan-Virtua Rita & Larry Salva School of Nursing & Health Professions (SNHP) and the Rowan-Virtua School of Translational Biomedical Engineering & Sciences (TBES) came together to celebrate the graduates of the class of 2024 in a ceremony held on Rowan University’s main campus. The two schools, both components of the new Virtua Health College of Medicine & Life Sciences, recognized the accomplishments of a combined 311 graduates.

TBES Dean Mark Byrne opened the ceremony with a welcome to all in attendance. Byrne praised the graduates, describing them as pioneers in health care innovation poised to shape the future of their fields.

Executive Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer for Virtua Health Reginald Blaber delivered the commencement address. Reminding graduates of the significant influence they may have on other people's lives, he encouraged them to practice the values of empathy and compassion in their chosen fields of work. “Your life's success won't be defined by how much money you make but by the lives you touch,” he said.

Following Blaber, SNHP Dean Peter Rattigan addressed the graduates and their families, expressing deep pride and appreciation for their achievements. "Today is really all about you," Rattigan said.

Following Dean Rattigan, Rita and Larry Salva—after whom the school is named—took the lectern. Renowned educator and health care professional Rita Salva encouraged graduates to confront the challenges that lie ahead with courage and determination. Larry Salva praised the graduates for their commitment and resilience while reflecting on the transformative power of education.

The ceremony concluded with a symbolic tassel toss and the singing of the alma mater as the graduates of the Class of 2024 officially embarked on their next chapter.
