Eclipsing previous fundraising totals, Day of Giving 2024 drives more than $405,000 in donations

Rowan University’s annual Day of Giving, a 24-hour fundraising marathon held by and for the campus community, this year far outpaced last year’s record-breaking total in pledges made.
The 10th annual event raised $405,502 Feb. 22, well exceeding last year’s total of roughly $315,000.
Students, faculty, staff, administrators, parents and friends of the University pledged 3,021 individual gifts to support a wide range of clubs, teams, programs and campus organizations including The SHoP food pantry and resource center, the Early Childhood Demonstration Center, Men's Soccer, Chemical Engineering, Fencing and Softball.
Vice President for University Advancement and Executive Director of the Rowan University Foundation Jesse Shafer said results of the 10th annual Day of Giving, held amid Rowan’s Centennial year, are especially significant because they’re a sign that an increasing number of the University’s constituents are sensing – and fueling – a groundswell of momentum.
“While we’re thrilled that we surpassed our financial goal by a significant margin, we’re even more encouraged by the fact that we received 20% more gifts than we did last year. That’s an indicator that more and more of our stakeholders are recognizing our value and quality and want to be part of the University’s success,” Shafer said.
He added that, “while our record-breaking numbers were driven by the excitement surrounding the University, a Day of Giving like the one we just had doesn’t happen on its own. It was an all-hands-on-deck effort led by Kaylee Collins, Director of Annual Giving, who mobilized not only the Advancement team but student and alumni volunteers throughout the University.”
As in past years, the Day of Giving featured special “challenges” in which fundraising goals, once met, unlocked additional sources of revenue set aside by University leadership, boards and supporters that in many cases doubled or tripled the impact of donor gifts.
