Rowan celebrates Black History Month with events throughout February
A tradition of celebrating Black History Month at Rowan University continues this year with a broad range of events and activities through the end of February.
Programming will take place on the Glassboro campus as well as in Camden at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University in Camden and Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine in Sewell and Stratford.

CMSRU:
At Cooper Medical School of Rowan University in Camden, the Student National Medical Association (SNMA), one of the school’s student diversity groups, has several events planned for Black History Month.
The SNMA honors the contributions and legacy of African Americans throughout the month with a variety of programming. (For full details, see the special display in CMSRU lobby.
Among events, on February 7th from noon to 1 p.m., CMSRU will host a Soul Food Fair featuring a variety of African American foods in CMSRU’s lobby.
On Tuesday, February 20th at 3:30 p.m. in room 522, the school will host Pioneers in Pictures featuring a screening of Something the Lord Made, a film about the 34-year relationship between Vivien Thomas and Alfred Blalock as they worked to find a surgical solution for blue baby syndrome and launched modern heart surgery.
The school’s Black History Month activities will culminate with a Black History Month Museum February 26th at 3:30 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room.

Wednesday, February 21st: Movie Screening: Something the Lord Made, featuring a discussion led by Dr. Nicole Streeks-Wooden. 5 to 8 p.m., Academic Center Auditorium, Stratford.
