Commencement 2022: One ceremony lost, but 19 more to celebrate all week

Dear Class of 2022 and University Community,

Yesterday we were hopeful that the region’s historic nor’easter would blow through so we could proceed with our rain-delayed Sunday ceremony, but today, the weather news is still bad.

Tremendously disappointing as it is, we must shift from postponing to cancelling the University ceremony and celebration.

After consulting weather experts, our own Events, Facilities and Public Safety leadership whose staff have worked tirelessly to prepare for Commencement, it is clear that the unseasonably low temperatures, high winds and continued threat of rain will make outdoor activities difficult and unadvisable.

The good news is that forecasts show a clear and comfortable week ahead, so our 19 College and School ceremonies will proceed, starting Monday morning and concluding Friday evening.

I look forward to seeing the Class of 2022 and loved ones celebrate at the University Green. We will have all the more joy to share at each of the days’ Commencement programs.

Thank you to everyone for understanding. As ever, we remain RowanPROUD.

Very truly yours,

Ali A. Houshmand
President
