Rowan University President Ali A. Houshmand has again received honors for leadership by two regional publications, ROI-NJ and the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Releasing its ROI Influencers: Power List 2022 - Top 50 Feb. 23, the statewide ROI-NJ included Houshmand among such leaders as Gov. Phil Murphy, Rutgers University President Jonathan Holloway, and Ken Frazier, executive chairman of pharmaceutical giant Merck.

Making the list at #41, ROI-NJ editors wrote, “no college president runs his school like a business as well as Houshmand does — a business that will key growth in all of South Jersey, creating the next generation of workers and leaders. It’s no wonder that Rowan continues to rise steadily in the national rankings.”

The publication has long recognized Houshmand, naming him to its inaugural "Power List" in 2018, to its ROI Influencers: People of Color list in 2020 and to its Power List of Influencers in Higher Education in 2021.

Likewise, the Philadelphia Business Journal again recognized Houshmand in its regional study of the most impactful leaders, naming him to its 2022 Power 100 list.

The magazine, which encourages readers to “meet the business leaders shaping Greater Philadelphia,” included such trailblazers as Jeff Lurie, chairman and CEO of the Philadlephia Eagles; Virtua Health CEO Dennis Pullin; and Lorina Marshall-Blake, president of Independence Blue Cross Foundation.

Long one of the region’s biggest supporters of increasing opportunities to higher education, Houshmand’s tenure as president has also focused on leveraging Rowan’s resources for the greatest economic impact.

Under Houshmand, Business Journal editors wrote, “the University recently inked a deal with Virtua Health to create a new academic health system,” a deal that will expand Rowan’s nursing program and its “pipeline of nurses entering the industry. Houshmand continues to tout the school's focus on research as well, becoming a National Science Foundation research hub.”

This is at least the fifth time Houshmand has made the Business Journal’s Power 100 list, a survey the magazine describes as “a guide that aims to reflect the most influential people (in the region) at this moment in time.”

In June, Houshmand celebrates his 10th year as president of Rowan. To learn more about the University’s transformation under Houshmand, please see Rowan on the Rise. Also, read more about Houshmand’s vision for Rowan, the University of the Future.
