Rowan named a top college by U.S. News, Forbes and College Factual
Three of the nation’s leading higher education ranking organizations named Rowan University a top college in best-of lists released this week.
U.S. News & World Report, arguably the most-watched ranking organization in America, graded Rowan #88 among national public universities for 2022, a seven-place improvement, and #179 overall, an eight-place improvement over the 2021 rankings.
The news magazine also gave the University high marks in undergraduate education, business, computer science and engineering.
Rowan’s U.S. News rankings for 2022 include:

Forbes, which recognized Rowan as “among the fastest growing universities in the country,” ranked Rowan well in several categories including:
- Top Colleges Overall: #352
- Public Colleges: #165
- Research Universities #206
- In the Northeast #135
Higher education data and analytics company College Factual ranked Rowan #323 out of 2,576 colleges and universities in the country and #11 in New Jersey. The company ranked Rowan in numerous degree categories including education, online construction trades management and radio, television & film.
Internationally, Rowan also received accolades this week with inclusion in the 2022 Times Higher Education World University Rankings for physical sciences and psychology.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings, which include more than 1,600 colleges and universities across 99 countries and territories, noted in a statement that it will include Rowan in sections to be released in October and November for engineering, computer science, business, economics, education, law, the arts and humanities.
In the combined Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education College Ranking 2022 released Sept. 21, Rowan ranked 344th out of 796 institutions nationally.
Rowan, which for the purposes of the WSJ/Times study is in the Northeast region, ranked 124th out of 258 institutions. In that combined study, Rowan was ranked against other institutions under four "pillars" – resources, engagement, outcomes and environment. Rowan's strongest ranking among the four was under outcomes, in which the study cited a high graduation rate, strong reputation, good graduate salaries and comparatively low average student debt after graduation.
