Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM received a pair of finalist nods from two national student media competitions in August.

The Rowan Radio Draft Special, a look at the 2021 NFL Draft, earned finalist recognition for Best Podcast in College Media Association’s Pinnacle Awards competition. Former Rowan Radio Sports Director Gary Erdelyi and Alex Braddock co-hosted and produced the show, which featured live draft analysis from the pair and members of the Rowan Radio Sports Department.

Meanwhile, Rowan Radio landed another honor in College Broadcasters Incorporated’s National Student Production Awards with Kayla Santiago and Lloyd Wilson collecting a finalist spot in the Best Sports Play-by-Play competition.

Santiago and Wilson provided play-by-play and color analysis work respectively for an NBA G League playoff game between the Delaware Blue Coats and Austin Spurs. The Blue Coats are the NBA G League affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers.

Last season, Rowan University and the Blue Coats partnered to create the Blue Coats Broadcast Academy powered by Rowan Radio. It provided students the opportunity to announce games and produce content for pre and postgame programming for Rowan Radio broadcasting platforms.

Winners for the competitions will be announced in October during each organization’s national conference.

Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM has won 342 regional and national awards since 1993.

Congratulations to Gary, Alex, Kayla, and Lloyd!
