Rowan University’s 4th Annual First-Generation “Flying First” Symposium on now
Through Friday, Rowan is holding an online symposium for first generation students and their families.
“Adapting Amid Change and Uncertainty” is a virtual event with a full schedule of programs and discussions.
About the program:
From racial tensions to Covid-19 to political unrest, the impact of changes and uncertainty in our everyday lives is far reaching, affecting mental health, physical safety, food insecurity, academic disparities and more. Yet this period in our nation’s history has also sparked creativity and unsurpassed resiliency while Americans navigate a very challenging time.
Despite the challenges, first-generation students and their families are learning to thrive in this environment and we invite them to take part in our three-day online symposium.
This year’s theme, “Adapting Amid Change and Uncertainty,” focuses on the sometimes apparent, oftentimes unexpected ways that first-generation students and the surrounding systems are impacted by the changing nature of contemporary challenges.
Though fully virtual this year, the core of the symposium remains the same as in years past: to educate, share ideas and work to serve the needs of First Generation students and their families. The symposium includes presentations, breakout sessions, resources, a roundtable discussion and a popular student panel session.
So please join us, along with other students and their families, faculty and staff from Rowan University and local colleges and universities.
