Forbes magazine this week named Rowan University a “best-in-state employer” based on feedback from employees themselves.

The magazine, in partnership with online data firm Statista, determined America’s Best-In-State Employers based on a survey of more than 80,000 employees at organizations with 500 or more people. Rowan has more than 4,000 employees.

The survey, conducted from October 2019 to May 2020, ranked employers in all 50 states plus the District of Columbia, scoring Rowan #26 among New Jersey employers for 2020. The anonymous study enabled participants to share opinions about their employers on a range of issues including work safety, compensation, opportunities for advancement and openness to telecommuting.

The study ranked Apple and Microsoft #1 & #2 respectively in the Garden State and ranked Princeton University #9 and Rutgers University #38.

In a separate study, Niche, a Pittsburgh-based data collection firm, this week ranked America’s top public universities, scoring Rowan #5 in New Jersey.

Rowan University President Ali A. Houshmand said the new studies are significant because they recognize Rowan’s commitment to its two most important groups: students and employees.

“It’s certainly an honor to be recognized for our work. Our goal remains: delivering the highest quality education that is affordable and accessible,” Houshmand said. “But we are also committed to being the type of employer where the very best candidates can build their careers. To be recognized is truly gratifying.”
