Five steps to take NOW:

  1. Check your Rowan email and Canvas portal to know what to do for the first day of class and for other important information every day. Each instructor will contact you with instructions on how to participate in the first class. Even for courses scheduled in a physical classroom, your first class meeting may be remote - so do not go to a classroom until you’re sure your course is being held there. In classrooms, choose a seat that is not marked by a red stop sign sticker to ensure appropriate distance from others. You are responsible for attending every scheduled class session, whether held in-person or remotely, at the time listed on your course schedule. Always read your email frequently, at least once per day, preferably much more. Follow up on important action items immediately.

  2. Check your course schedule in Self-Service Banner. There may have been recent changes. Ensure your course schedule is finalized. While you can freely drop and add courses in Self-Service Banner through Tuesday, September 8, the sooner you are in your final schedule, the more successful you are likely to be due to not missing classes. Helpful resources: Step-by-step guide and brief videos: how to review your course schedule and how to search for courses in Banner and Section Tally

  3. Log in to your Canvas portal. Most courses now have information posted in Canvas (click “Access My Courses in Canvas” at online.rowan.edu). If you add a course, it will appear in your Canvas portal within 1 to 2 hours of the change. You can learn more about Canvas by registering for ONL 00100 Rowan Online Immersion (new seats available) and reviewing this Canvas Student Guide.

  4. Make a plan for where to study or participate in remote classes. If you need a place on campus: students are welcome in any public spaces in open buildings (such as the Student Center (check hours), Campbell Library (check hours), and academic buildings such as Science, Rowan, Engineering, Business, James, Savitz, etc. using appropriate social distancing and safety protocols and following all posted signage. There are also designated classrooms for use during the buildings’ open hours, generally 7 am - 11 pm: Bozorth 107, Bozorth 108, Bunce 105, Esby 111, James 1112, James 2094, Robinson 103, Robinson 204, Savitz 217, Victoria 204 (campus map). Students need to provide their own laptop or other device in these rooms; headsets/earphones and webcams are encouraged. Computer labs and printing are available.

  5. Wear your masksocial distance, avoid crowded areas and space out in hallways, and wash your hands frequently. These basic health behaviors will protect you and others in the Rowan community to help everyone have a healthy and engaging semester.

The Return to Rowan website has important information for you to review, including previous communications to students.
