The Edelman Planetarium at Rowan University offers a variety of shows this winter, including two brand new laser shows and three immersive science programs.

The laser shows combine stunning visual effects from the planetarium’s state-of-the-art projection system and explosive sound from the 5.1 surround sound system, creating an extraordinary experience. Science shows combine immersive 360-degree videos with live stargazing with a virtual sky.

Each show runs for one hour every weekend through March 15.

On Fridays at 7 p.m., the planetarium will present Laser Prince, a show highlighting the musical legacy of Prince, the enigmatic and flamboyant performer whose imaginative music blends funk, rock, R&B, new wave, soul and pop. The show includes songs such as “Let’s Go Crazy,” “1999,” “Little Red Corvette,” “I Wanna Be Your Lover,” “Diamonds and Pearls,” and much more.

Beginning at 4 p.m. every Saturday, the planetarium will take the audience on a journey to the farthest reaches of our galaxy to experience the awesome beauty and destructive power of stars during the showing of Stars. At 5:30 p.m. Astronaut begins. The show allows the audience to experience humankind’s greatest endeavor--the exploration of space. The night concludes with a 7 p.m. Laser Gaga show, bringing excitement and glam from Lady Gaga, an undeniable force in modern music and entertainment. Laser Gaga features songs such as “Bad Romance,” “Beautiful Dirty Rich,” “Paparazzi,” “Boys Boys Boys,” “En, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say)” and much more.

Every Sunday at 3 p.m., the planetarium features Faster Than Light, a show designed to take audiences to distant habitable worlds and discover how we may one day journey beyond our solar system.
