Edelman Planetarium hosts summer of shows

The Edelman Planetarium at Rowan University is offering a variety of summer programs through Aug. 25, including light shows that use a new state-of-the-art projection system from Laser Fantasy. They are:
FRIDAYS
7 p.m. – Laser Stranger Things
This features the Stranger Things theme, Sunglasses at Night by Corey Hart, Every Breath You Take by The Police, Girls on Film by Duran Duran and more.
SATURDAYS
4 p.m. – Oasis in Space
Oasis in Space transports the audience on a startling and beautiful voyage through the universe, galaxy and solar system in search of liquid water, a key ingredient for life on Earth.
5:30 p.m. – Supervolcanoes
This is an immersive planetarium show that looks back at rare classes of eruptions that have released the energy that lurks, like a sleeping dragon, beneath the surface of planet Earth. The program moves beyond Earth to explore the impact of giant volcanic eruptions around the solar system.
Audiences will fly down to Neptune’s frigid moon Triton and onto the ultimate volcanic world: Jupiter’s moon Io. Finally, on a visit to a legendary North American hot spot, Yellowstone National Park, the film asks: can a supervolcano erupt in our time?
7 p.m. -- Laser Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon
This includes Speak to Me, Breathe, On the Run, Time Breathe (Reprise) and more. [Explicit content.]
SUNDAYS
2 p.m. -- Family Show *
* For visitors with children 5-10 years old, the staff suggests shorter family shows. They run about half an hour, do not include a live presentation and cost only $2 per person! Each month the Planetarium offers a different title: June – Earth, Moon & Sun; July – The Magic Tree House: Space Mission; and August – Laser Peter and the Wolf.
3 p. m. -- CAPCOM GO!
This immersive, historical documentary showcases the achievements of the Apollo program and what it took to put the first human on the Moon. It introduces a new generation to the immense challenges astronauts overcame and will inspire viewers to become the explorers, designers, engineers, thinkers and dreamers of the future. The show helps celebrate Apollo 11’s 50th anniversary in July.
