Rowan hosts Philadelphia Science Festival events
Rowan University once again is a sponsor for and the official New Jersey hub of the Philadelphia Science Festival, which kicks off its ninth year on April 26 and runs through May 4. The Franklin Institute and more than 200 partners from the region's leading educational, cultural and scientific institutions join forces to educate, inspire and excite the Delaware Valley about the science and technology present in visitors’ everyday lives. This annual festival is an innovative nine-day celebration of science hosted by the region’s most influential institutions, museums and cultural centers.
Rowan will host on its Glassboro campus or be part of the following free events, which are open to the public and are appropriate for all ages:
Star Party
Friday, April 26, 7:30-10:30 p.m.
Edelman Planetarium
Science Hall
Visit the Edelman Planetarium for the Rowan University Star Party, featuring free showings of Stars: The Powerhouses of the Universe. Journey to the furthest reaches of the galaxy and experience both the awesome beauty and destructive power of stars. This dramatic program features narration by Mark Hamill and stunning 3D animation. Following the planetarium show, head to the 4th floor observatory for views of the night sky through telescopes. No registration required. Family Science Sunday

Glassboro Campus (Welcome Tent at Robinson Circle)
Rowan University’s Glassboro campus throws open its doors to the South Jersey community to welcome families and science enthusiasts to Family Science Sunday. Join students, faculty and staff for an afternoon of cutting-edge science and fun at this campus-wide event. Activities include sport and health science, robotics, the science of visual art and music, science experiments, learning about research labs, a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) challenge obstacle course and much more. Planetarium screenings of Black Holes, will be offered throughout the afternoon. Rowan Radio WGLS will broadcast live from the event. No registration required. Open parking in Lots O and B. Off-Campus Event: Science Carnival on the Parkway

Students, faculty and staff from Rowan University, Cooper Medical School of Rowan University and the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine will host hands-on science activities at the 2019 Philadelphia Science Festival Carnival on the Parkway.
