OnlineColleges.Com ranks Rowan 6th in N.J.

OnlineColleges.com, an educational ranking website, this week named Rowan the sixth best college or university in New Jersey for online, four-year degrees.

Editors of the site considered a variety of factors including academic offerings, affordability, student services and the availability of online programs.

While OnlineColleges.Com recognized Rowan for just four fully online undergraduate degrees – construction management, law & justice, liberal studies and psychology –  Rowan offers approximately 40 fully online and hybrid degrees and certificates including the Ed. D. in Educational Leadership, master’s degrees in Business Administration,  Finance, Engineering Management and Wellness & Lifestyle Management and bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Nursing. OnlineColleges.Com noted that Rowan’s Division of Global Learning & Partnerships, which develops online programming for the University, makes the best use of available technology such as chat rooms, online discussion boards and email between students and professors.

Vice President for Global Learning & Partnerships Dr. Horacio Sosa said the division is committed to removing obstacles such as distance and location so as many students as possible may earn undergraduate and/or graduate degrees.

“Early on, Rowan committed to embracing technology and removing barriers and we fully embrace that philosophy today,” Sosa said. “While, initially, the concept of online studies appealed largely to non-traditional students, today we see as many as one third of all Rowan students taking advantage of online and hybrid offerings.”
