Just as sure as the start of the fall semester, rankings organizations each autumn release studies showing how colleges and universities compare with one another and Rowan, as is often the case, is rising high.

The University, which for 2018-19 will have more than 19,000 students (roughly double its enrollment just 12 years ago), was named the sixth fastest growing college or university in America among public doctoral institutions Aug. 19 by the Chronicle of Higher Education's Almanac of Higher Education 2018-19.

Leading that list is the University of California at Merced followed by Utah State University, Arizona State University (Downtown Phoenix), the University of Texas at Dallas, the University of Texas at Arlington and Rowan. Rutgers University New Brunswick made the list at #19.

Forbes Magazine in August named Rowan to its annual compendium of Top Colleges, ranking it #130 among public colleges, #166 among research universities and #145 in the Northeast.

Washington Monthly, in its 2018 College Guide and Rankings issue Aug. 27, ranked Rowan #136 among National Universities, a rating based on such factors as graduation rate, percentage of first generation college students and predicted graduate earnings. Harvard and Stanford Universities took the top two places in that study followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Money Magazine in early August included Rowan among a group of the most valuable schools in America, colleges and universities where the cost of attending is well offset by the earning potential of their graduates.

In determining its list of the Best Colleges for Your Money 2017-18, the magazine considered schools with at least 500 students, schools that are financially solvent and schools with graduation rates at or above the average for their category (public or private).

In February, Rowan was named one of the top 100 safest college campuses in the United States by the National Council for Home Safety and Security.

U.S. News & World Report, for years one of the best respected magazines to rank colleges and universities, will release its findings for 2018-19 in September. For 2017-18, the magazine ranked Rowan #171 among National Universities.
