Rowan alumnus, Camden native joins Board of Trustees
Michael Carbone is the newest member of Rowan University’s Board of Trustees.
Appointed by Gov. Chris Christie, he was approved by the Judiciary Committee of the N.J. State Senate and joined the Board Sept. 13 for a six-year term.
“I am pleased to welcome Michael Carbone to the Board of Trustees,” Rowan President Ali Houshmand said. “With his proven business acumen and love for Rowan he will be a great addition to the Board.”
Carbone, a 1985 graduate who was honored as Rowan’s Distinguished Alumnus in 2014, earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Glassboro State College and was accredited in advanced financial analysis through the University of Michigan in 1987.
Carbone is senior vice president, TD Bank Group and regional president, Metro PA/NJ Market.
He is a former Chairman of the Board for the Committee of Seventy, an independent, non-partisan advocate for better government in Philadelphia, and continues to serve on their board. He also serves on the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce and with the United Way of Greater Philadelphia, the South Jersey Audit Committee, the Penn Cardiovascular Institute, the Rohrer College of Business Executive Advisory Board and recently joined the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia’s Corporate Council.
Carbone has been recognized for community involvement with the Anti-Defamation League Americanism Award, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Breath of Life Award, was named Man of the Year by the Boys and Girls Club of Camden County and received the Man of the Year award from the American Red Cross.
Born and raised in Camden, he is married and has one son.
