From K-9 officers to bomb squads to SWAT teams, Rowan’s Law & Justice Day to showcase criminal justice practices

A hero’s sendoff for two retiring K-9 officers, forensic demonstrations and a vehicular homicide crash simulation will help mark the annual celebration of Law & Justice Day at Rowan University on Monday, April 10, from 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on the University Green off Whitney Avenue.

Alpha Phi Sigma, Rowan’s Law & Justice Honor Society, will join forces with the University’s Department of Public Safety to showcase crime fighting and safety methods in the field of criminal justice.

Glassboro Police Department chief Alex Fanfarillo, a Rowan alumnus, will give the keynote address at the event during the opening ceremony at 10 a.m. Retiring K-9 officers Remi (Westville Police Department) and Kayd (Mantua Township Police Department) will be honored for their distinguished service.

Following the opening ceremony, a Gloucester County and Rowan Police K-9 demonstration will take place and a vehicular crash demonstration will be staged in Parking Lot Y off Bunce Green.

The afternoon will round out with table exhibits ranging from SWAT, New Jersey State Police bomb squad, and drunk goggles from the Rowan police department.

The public is welcome to enjoy the Law & Justice Day events.

A schedule of events for the day is as follows:

10 a.m. - Opening ceremony

10:30 a.m. - K-9 demonstration

11:30 a.m. - Vehicular crash demonstration (Parking lot Y)

11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. - Table exhibits with SWAT, bomb squad, ERT, composite sketch artist, drunk goggles, RAD demo, and blood splatter/impression evidence labs.
