Students pull an innovative all-nighter at Rowan University’s ProfHacks
Rowan University’s chapter of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) will host students from schools throughout the East Coast and test their innovative minds during the 2nd annual ProfHacks hackathon competition on Saturday, Feb. 4, starting at 10 a.m. and running through 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5 in Rowan Hall (the Henry M. College of Engineering building), just off Bowe Boulevard in Glassboro, New Jersey.
Rowan’s chapter of IEEE will host students from area high schools, Villanova University, University of Maryland College Park, Stevens Institute of Technology, Rutgers University, University of Florida and more than 20 other colleges during ProfHacks, a 24-hour engineering technology event emphasizing collaboration and innovation.
Students will work in small teams through the night on engineering projects under this year’s theme, “The Human Connection,” developing innovative ways to connect people and technology.
A panel of judges will determine the best inventions from the day and award prizes that include Amazon Echo Dots and swag bags.
ProfHacks is just one of the weekend-long invention competitions, endorsed by Major League Hacking, the official hackathon league.
Last year, ProfHacks included more than 160 students from 18 universities. This year, the team expects close to 250 hackers.
