Rowan University in November was named the #2 college or university in New Jersey for online education and affordability by OnlineColleges.Net, an educational ranking website.

Editors of the site considered a variety of factors including academic offerings, reputation, student life and financial aid options.

In compiling the 2016 rankings of New Jersey colleges and universities, editors noted that they “reviewed all of the schools with an online component, and ranked the top online colleges… We’ve also provided a detailed profile that highlights the academic strengths and online dimensions of each school.”

The site noted a partial listing of Rowan’s online undergraduate and graduate degree programs offered through the Division of Global Learning & Partnerships.

In describing Rowan’s online offerings, the site noted that “the school provides an orientation, tutorials and support services to all online students. Students interact and communicate with their instructors via (the CANVAS learning management system), a platform that incorporates digital slide shows, audio, videos, discussion boards, chat rooms, and of course, email.”

OnlineColleges.Net ranked Rowan only behind Rutgers University for New Jersey online higher education providers.

Dr. Horacio Sosa, vice president for the Division of Global Learning & Partnerships, said recognition by third party sources like OnlineColleges.Net affirm a commitment that Rowan has made to offer flexible, affordable programs that expand access to higher education.

“The principles guiding Rowan University – quality education, access, affordability, and our role as an economic engine for South Jersey – also drive Global Learning & Partnerships,” Sosa said. “As always, it’s gratifying to be noticed for doing our job.”
