From the pencil to the horseshoe, the Dali to the Fu Manchu, and even the toothbrush to the paintbrush, Rowan University students will sport all types of fuzzy upper-lips at the fourth annual Mustache March benefiting the American Stroke Association.

On Tuesday, March 3, starting at 1 p.m., Rowan students and community members will march from the Chamberlain Student Center to Barnes & Noble on Rowan Boulevard, all in an effort to raise money and awareness for the American Stroke Association.

Last year, the march raised more than $1,500 for the association and this year they’re hoping to raise even more, according to Carly Samuels, director of charitable events for Student University Programmers (SUP), the event’s host.

“It’s awesome to see different people across the campus and community come together for a single event,” said Samuels.

Other festivities will start at 11 a.m. in the student center. SUP will conduct a series of mustache-related activities. These include games, crafts, prizes, t-shirt sales and contests for natural mustaches and hand-made ones worn by both men and women.

There will even be a contest hosted on Instagram, where participants can showcase their greatest upper-lip masterpieces.

By noon, SUP will serve hot chocolate and mustache-shaped cakes and cookies to everyone sporting a ’stache. Rowan’s mascot, the Prof will even grow out his own classic walrus mustache for the occasion and will be taking pictures with march participants.

Festivities throughout the Rowan campus already have begun and on Monday, March 2, Landmark Americana, one of the event’s sponsors, will host a best mustache competition at 10:30 p.m.

Other sponsors from the Glassboro area include Ace Screen Printing; Think Greek; The Frame Shop; Downtown Glassboro; Heather Simmons Communications; Nick’s Pizza; Bogey’s Bar and Grill; and Treasures on Broadway.
