Aliens to visit the Edelman planetarium on Sunday
A family of four aliens will be featured in a family show at the Edelman Planetarium at Rowan University, Rt. 322, Glassboro, New Jersey, on Sunday, Nov. 2, at 2 p.m. This is part of the planetarium’s monthly program to provide weekend planetarium offerings suitable for families with young children.
The full-dome movie “Perfect Little Planet” follows family members as they search for the perfect place to take a much-needed vacation. The aliens, under the guidance of their holographic robot travel agent, tour the solar system looking for the ideal spot. They see the great gas clouds of the outer planets, the strange behavior of comets, and the hard surfaces of the “Rocky Midgets” nearer the Sun. Their ship almost gets caught in the atmosphere of Jupiter, and their zippy flight above a moon of Uranus may make viewers wish they had seatbelts. The show offers a lot of the solar system, with accurately portrayed visualizations of the planets, and quite a bit of humor.
The admission fee for all visitors for this special 35-minute show is $2. The regular weekly public show, “Back to the Moon for Good,” follows at 3 p.m. More information is available on the planetarium website at www.rowan.edu/planetarium/.
