The Rowan University College of Science & Mathematics will sign a new partnership agreement with the Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine on Thursday, Sept. 26, at 2 p.m. in Hollybush Mansion, on the Rowan campus, off Whitney Avenue, Glassboro, N.J.

This agreement will permit up to five students attending Rowan’s College of Science & Mathematics to also enroll into Nova Southeastern’s medical school in what is known as a “D.O. 4 + 4 program.” Through this program, students will attend Rowan for four years. Upon successfully completing core requirements and prerequisite courses for the medical school, they may apply to Nova Southeastern between their junior and senior years for admission. (Students may interview as early as their senior year of high school and obtain a conditional acceptance into the medical school before beginning Rowan.) If they maintain a minimum 3.2 GPA, earn at least a 25 on their MCATs and earn their bachelor’s degree, they will be enrolled in Nova Southeastern.

This is Rowan’s first agreement that allows students to be accepted to a medical school while still in high school.

Nova Southeastern is a private, not-for-profit, research university based in Fort Lauderdale-Davie, Fla.  The Commission on Osteopathic Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association accredits Nova Southeastern.

Rowan University has an active Health Professions organization. During the past 20 years, more than 300 Rowan graduates have become doctors, dentists, optometrists veterinarians, podiatrists and pharmacists through the University's numerous affiliation programs. Several of these programs offer students the opportunity to complete their doctoral degrees in seven years instead of the traditional eight. The overall acceptance rate to medical and other health professional schools for students who receive Rowan’s Health Committee approval is between 90 and 100 percent.

Rowan currently has articulation agreements with Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine, George Washington University School of Medicine, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and Ross University School of Medicine.
