Linda M. Rohrer Elected Chair of Rowan Board of Trustees

Rowan University's Board of Trustees has voted Linda M. Rohrer chair for the 2012-13 academic year.

First installed on  the board in January 2009, Rohrer, of Haddon Township, is president of Rohrer  and Sayers Real Estate in Haddon Township, vice chair of the Camden County  Improvement Authority, a member of the Haddon Township Planning Board, and  chair of 1st Colonial National Bank of Collingswood.

Rohrer is a former high school Spanish teacher with more than 30 years of business experience. She is an avid supporter of higher education who presently serves on the Rowan University Foundation Board and the William G. Rohrer Charitable Foundation.

Rowan's Rohrer College of Business is named for Rohrer's family, benefactors who have supported the college with more than $13 million to foster business education.

"As Rowan embarks on one of the most important years in its history, Linda's stewardship of the board will be invaluable. She brings to the position invaluable business experience and a real commitment to education," said Rowan President Ali A. Houshmand.

Rowan, which in 2012 celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Rohrer College of Business, this summer earned research university status, opened the Cooper Medical School of Rowan University in Camden, and is acquiring the School of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Stratford. Once that acquisition is complete, Rowan will be one of just two universities in the nation to offer two medical schools.

"Rowan is on a remarkable trajectory and I am truly honored by this appointment," Rohrer said of her election as chair.

Rohrer, who holds a Bachelor of Arts from Upsala College in East Orange, began her career teaching Spanish at Paul VI High School in Haddon Township. She was chosen from among her peers on the board to lead the body in the coming year.  

In addition to Rohrer's election as chair, the Board today elected Glassboro businessmen Larry DiVietro Jr. vice chair and Nick Petroni secretary.

Installed on the Board in February 2002, DiVietro, of Wenonah, is president and CEO of Land Dimensions Engineering in Glassboro. He serves as vice chair of the Gloucester County YMCA, on the Board of the  Southern New Jersey Development Council, and is a member of the American  Institute of Certified Planners.

Installed on the Board in February 2004, Petroni, of Glassboro, is a certified public accountant with a degree from the University of Notre Dame. The owner of Petroni and Associates, a Glassboro accounting firm, Petroni serves on the Mayor's Committee for Downtown Redevelopment, on the Finance Council for the Church of St. Bridget  in Glassboro, and is past president of the Glassboro Chamber of Commerce.
