Lights, Camera, Action...Alumnus Ed Glavin '85 is a leader in radio, television and film

As Executive Producer for The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Ed Glavin '85 oversees the production of the daily talk show.

Glavin credits many professors within Rowan's College of Communication--notably Mike Donovan, Ed Kasuba and Ned Eckhardt--with shaping his strong knowledge. A self-professed average student, Glavin fell in love with the radio/television/film (RTF) program while detailing cars in Turnersville to fund his Rowan University education.

Eager to graduate in four years and just six credits shy, Glavin took his friend Sandy Katz's recommendation to apply for an internship with KYW TV. Glavin got the last available internship and earned his six credits while he worked in Philadelphia for the summer. One of Glavin's favorite pieces to cover was "Live Aid."

After graduation, Glavin worked at KYW for three years. With this experience, he landed a job with The Morton Downey Jr. Show and then went on to work for The Donahue Show, which put him on the map as a producer. This led him to his final stop--The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

"In high school, I would be the one that [was] voted most likely to never be remembered again," said Glavin. However, hard work, passion and key connections with individuals within the College of Communication helped shape the success he enjoys today. Notably, Glavin's efforts have earned him seven Daytime Emmy Awards and two Producers Guild Awards.

Glavin keeps in touch with his alma mater and always recommends Rowan's College of Communication to everyone he can. His four siblings still live in the New Jersey area; two of which graduated from then-Glassboro State College. Although Glavin has Malibu beaches within reach, he vacations every summer in Ocean City with his family.
