More than 700 students of Indian heritage from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia, California, Illinois, Alabama, Massachusetts, Virginia and many more states are competing in the 2010 national finals of the North South Foundation’s academic games, including those in spelling, vocabulary, math, geography, essay writing, public speaking and the Brain Bee National Championships, August 20 to 22, 2010, in the Student Center at Rowan University, Rt. 322, Glassboro, N.J.
Based in Illinois, the non-profit North South Foundation was formed in 1989 and provides college scholarships in India to needy children who excel academically, according to the organization, and holds educational contests in the United States that encourage excellence among the Indian American children and prepare them to enter into better colleges.
