Rowan again ranked in top tier by U.S. News & World Report
In its annual "America's Best Colleges" issue, U.S. News ranked Rowan in the top tier of the Best Universities-Master's (North Region) category. Rowan is ranked 23rd (tied) in the category. Last year, the University was tied for 22nd. The category includes universities that provide comprehensive undergraduate and master's programs.
In the Top Public Schools-Master's (North) category, Rowan was ranked third for the second straight year.
Rowan's College of Engineering was ranked 21st (tied). The chemical engineering program was ranked second.
The rankings will be published in the September issue of U.S. News & World Report, which hits newsstands August 17.
"It's gratifying to see Rowan so highly ranked in U.S. News & World Report's ‘America's Best Colleges' issue," Rowan President Donald J. Farish said.
"Many students and parents turn to U.S. News in the college selection process. While the publication should be only one tool to help select a college, we are nonetheless happy to see Rowan receive recognition once again."
According to U.S. News, institutional rankings are based on measures of quality that include peer assessments from top academic officers, such as university presidents, provosts and deans of admission; graduation and retention rates; faculty resources; student selectivity; financial resources; and alumni giving. Peer assessments and graduation and retention rates account for 50 percent of the overall rating, according to U.S. News.
The engineering rankings are based solely on a peer survey of deans and senior faculty, according to U.S. News.
Boasting an enrollment of more than 11,000 students, Rowan offers 80 undergraduate majors, including two accelerated bachelor's to master's programs, 55 majors leading to master's degrees; seven professional certification programs; 25 graduate certification of graduate study programs; six teacher certification programs; and a doctoral program in educational leadership.
The University also recently received accolades from The Princeton Review, as one of "The Best Northeastern Colleges," and Forbes as one of "America's Best Colleges."
