Take a stroll down memory lane, relive the good times or simply reconnect with friends at “Back Together Again,” the first Glassboro State College/Rowan University Black Alumni, Family & Friends Reunion, on Saturday, August 14, 2010, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., at the Rowan University Student Center in Glassboro, NJ.

Co-sponsored and organized by the Rowan University Alumni Association and alumni from several Glassboro State College/Rowan University classes, the reunion is an opportunity for black alumni to rekindle old friendships and become actively engaged with the University community.  The event will feature an indoor picnic style get-together for all black alumni, current and past students, faculty, staff and anyone with a direct connection to the University.

“Our goal is to make the reunion an annual or recurring event that encourages more black alumni to become involved in University activities, serve as role models for current students and help support the institution with philanthropic giving,” stated Melanie Burney, ’84, a member of the organizing committee.

In addition, alumni will enjoy networking, campus tours, swimming and games in the recreation center and take a group photo to commemorate the occasion.  The menu for this day-long, fun-filled event will feature backyard barbecue favorites, including hot dogs, hamburgers, ribs, chicken, potato salad, fruit salad, coleslaw, beverages and desserts.

Pre-registration is required to attend. Tickets for the reunion are $25 for adults and $15 for children ages 3-12. Reunion t-shirts are available for $12 each.  No on-site registration will be available. Call 856-256-5407 by August 4 to register.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the William H. Myers Scholarship Endowment Fund, which provides financial support for high-achieving minority students at Rowan University. Myers, a former assistant dean of students, passed away in 2003 He served the University for more than 25 years as an administrator and mentored many campus groups and students.
