For the second consecutive year, the Rowan Television Network (RTN) has received three Telly Awards in recognition of its original programming.

In the student film/video category, "Up All Night," "The Adventures of Squirrel Man," and special coverage of a fraternity's car show all won Telly Awards in the 31st annual competition.

Founded in 1978, Telly Awards honor outstanding local, regional and cable television commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online film and video. The Telly Awards competition receives over 13,000 entries annually from all 50 states and countries around the world.

Produced by senior Radio/Television/Film (RTF) major Adam Bradshaw of Kalamazoo, Mich., "Up All Night," Rowan's own late-night talk show, won its second consecutive bronze Telly Award.  "Up All Night" stars senior Kevin McTigue, an RTF major from Middletown, and junior Joe Penn, an RTF major from Sicklerville. During the show, McTigue and Penn interview local celebrities and showcase local performers.

Directed by senior Paul Russo of Wildwood, an RTF and management information systems major, the winning episode focused on local Glassboro restaurants and chefs.

"The Adventures of Squirrel Man," an episodic series that premiered on RTN this past academic year, received the network's first silver Telly Award. Written by McTigue, the eight-part series was directed by John Bradley, a senior RTF major from Piscataway. Dana Yurcisin, a senior RTF major from Toms River, was the director of photography for the series. The series' cast included: Anthony Buchanan, a senior RTF major from Hamilton; Brett Miller, a senior RTF major from Winslow; and Adriana Natale of Cherry Hill, who earned her bachelor's degree in theatre arts from Rowan on May 14.

A bronze Telly Award went to RTN's special events production team for its coverage of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Car Show last fall. Producer Josh Howard, a junior RTF major from Plainfield, and editor Evan Hage of Lacey Township, who earned his bachelor's degree in RTF in the spring, led the production. The coverage was hosted by senior RTF major Patrick Bean of Jackson.

Established in 1993, RTN delivers 24 hours of continuous, closed circuit programming to the entire Rowan University community. Run completely by its student members under the direction of faculty adviser Chris Winkler, RTN features a variety of programs catering to a diverse audience.
