Oscar-nominated documentary filmmaker Wendy Weinberg to visit Rowan
Filmmaker Wendy Weinberg, whose Academy Award-nominated documentary, "Beyond Imaging," examines the historical significance of the art and literary magazine The Little Review, will discuss her film at Rowan University on Thursday, March 25, at 9:30 a.m. in the auditorium of Bozorth Hall.
Weinberg's visit, which will include a screening of the film, is part of Rowan's observation of Women's History Month and is sponsored by the Women's and Gender Studies Program.
The Little Review was one of the most influential art and literary magazines in the world in the 1910s and 1920s and introduced a number of prominent 20th century writers, including Ezra Pound, T.S. Eliot and James Joyce. Weinberg's film examines the influence of the magazine and, also, the influence of Margaret Anderson, its founder, editor and publisher.
Weinberg is an assistant professor of film/video at Philadelphia's University of the Arts. "Beyond Imaging," which has been screened at over 30 national and international festivals, was nominated for an Academy Award in the "Documentary Short Subject" category in 1992. The film has aired on PBS stations in New York and Philadelphia and, also, in Australia, Scandinavia and Ireland.
