Rowan's Women's Network to host Channel 6 anchor Karen Rogers

Karen Rogers, weekday traffic and weather anchor for "Action News Mornings," will talk about juggling her work duties while raising three children during "Weathering Work, Balancing Life," a presentation on Thursday, Nov. 12, at Rowan University.
Sponsored by the Women's Professional Network of Rowan University, Rogers' talk begins at 10:30 a.m. in the Eynon Ballroom of the Chamberlain Student Center. Admission is free and light refreshments will be served.
Rogers, who rises each weekday at 2:30 a.m. to present traffic and weather for "Action News Mornings" on WPVI-TV Channel 6, graduated from Rutgers University in New Brunswick with degrees in communication and sociology.
Valedictorian of her communication class at Rutgers, she also holds a certificate in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University, where she completed three years of study in atmospheric sciences and geosciences.
A former Rotary International Scholar, Rogers pursued graduate studies in broadcast journalism in the United Kingdom. Before joining Channel 6 in 1996, she briefly worked at WHSP-TV in Vineland, where she anchored daily news cut-ins, hosted weekly talk shows, and interviewed political leaders for her monthly show, "Congressional Report."
Born and raised in New Jersey as one of 10 children, Rogers, a South Jersey resident, joined WPVI-TV as a reporter and producer for the show "AM/Philadelphia." She contributes to "Parenting Perspective," a new parenting blog written by station anchors and reporters on the Channel 6 website. Rogers and her husband, Kevin, have two elementary school-aged girls and a boy, who is a toddler.
