Rowan University’s Bryan Appleby-Wineberg and his fellow trumpeters in the ensemble Tromba Mundi offer a concert on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at 8 pm in Pfleeger Concert Hall as part of the College of Fine & Performing Arts Faculty Spotlight Series.

In addition to Appleby-Wineberg, the ensemble includes James Ackley, Scott Belck, Jean-Christophe Dobrzelewski, John Freeman, Judith Saxton and Joey Tartell. The concert features Michel Legrand’s The Summer Knows, Ackley’s Latin Suite, Joe Price’s Intrada Dramatica, Jérôme Naulais’ Cocktail, Mark Zuckerman’s Recollections, Bernard Andrès’ Triforium and Erik Morales’ City Scapes.

Tromba Mundi was founded in January 2008 by a group of musicians interested in exploring the trumpet ensemble repertoire and promoting new works. Each member is a professional educator and performer, representing Rowan, Capital, South Carolina, West Chester & Indiana universities and the North Carolina School of the Arts. Members also have performed with the Cincinnati Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, Chicago Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, Augusta Symphony, Charleston Symphony and Brevard Orchestra, in addition to working with various jazz and chamber ensembles. Tromba Mundi is dedicated to performing new works as well, and their debut CD, Music for Trumpet Ensemble (MSR Classics), features several original compositions in addition to selections from the standard repertoire.

Pfleeger Concert Hall is located in Wilson Hall on the campus of Rowan University, Route 322 in Glassboro, NJ. All Faculty Spotlight Series events are free and open to the public.
