Parents, families to learn about life at Rowan during Prof's Day
January 6, 2009
Families of Rowan University students will learn more about life at
the University during the first-ever Prof's Day on Saturday, Jan.
31.
"Families are invited to visit campus to hear about Rowan's academic programs, cultural opportunities and athletic events available to students-and to even enjoy some learning and fun themselves," says Julie Peterson, Parents & Family Program coordinator.
The day will begin with a dialogue with parents hosted by Rowan President Donald Farish. A forum on student behavioral expectations and parental partnership will follow. Carmen Jordan-Cox, vice president for Student Affairs, will lead the forum along with Richard Jones, interim associate vice president for Student Affairs, and Joseph Mulligan, assistant dean of students.
Parent and family focus groups will meet to cover an array of topics, including everything from academics and career planning to financial aid and scholarships. The day will include opportunities for families to see Rowan men's swimming and diving, women's basketball and men's basketball in action.
Additionally, participants will be invited to enjoy "Trash Picked: Contemporary Arte Povera" in Rowan's Art Gallery. The exhibit will feature works by artists Alyse Bernstein, Seth Eisen, Geoff Hindle, Scott Kaylor and Jeff Thomas.
The day will end with a performance by John Rush, "The Human IPod," at Rowan After Hours. Rush offers a one-man show of more than 600 songs from over 150 different artists.
Rowan After Hours offers free, one-of-a-kind programming to students every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening at the Chamberlain Student Center.
