Research at Rowan paves way for Willis to pursue PhD at Yale
Lucas Willis (Bellmawr) wasn’t a completely committed student in high school. He changed that at Rowan, where his studies were fueled by rich research opportunities. This fall, he begins Yale University’s PhD program in experimental atomic physics through a fully paid National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship, which includes a $31,000-a-year stipend.


Back from Iraq, Marine Corps Reservist poised to celebrate degree
James Adams (Sicklerville), 41, returned from Iraq on April 29. On May 16, he'll earn the degree he's been working on, in between full-time work and military deployments, for 11 years.


From Seeing Eye puppies, a different type of education for Rowan seniors
Kari Mastromonica (Clementon) and Magenta Bell (Fairless Hills, Pa.) each have raised three Seeing Eye puppies in their Rowan careers through the University’s RUFF program. Altogether, nine members of Rowan’s Class of 2008 have raised puppies. Dr. James A. Kutsch, Jr., president of The Seeing Eye, will receive an honorary Doctor of Humanities degree from Rowan at Commencement.

Michael Grafals (Collingswood) believes his Fulbright Program scholarship to teach and study in Spain will educate him about what it is to be American.


Quadruple communication major sets her sights on media career
Luticia Hawthorne (Burlington City), 43, will earn four degrees from Rowan’s College of Communication: journalism, radio/television/film, public relations and advertising.
