Rowan Women's and Men's Choruses present concert
Rowan University’s women’s and men’s choruses share the stage for a free concert event entitled “Divas, Divos and Desserts” on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at 8 pm in Boyd Recital Hall.
Under the direction of Dr. Z. Randall Stroope, WOCHO! (the women’s chorus) and Statesmen (the men’s chorus) present a program that includes guest trumpeters Bryan Appleby-Wineberg, Danielle Horan and Carla Destefano and features selections led by graduate conducting students Michael Trotta, Ben Spalding and Michael Doheny.
WOCHO performs William Mathias’ O Aula Nobilis, Op. 95, No. 4; Léo Delibes’ Les nymphes des bois; Lajos Bárdos’ Hej, Igazitsad!; two American folk songs (I Wish I Was A Child Again and Sourwood Mountain) arranged by Michael Neaum, Mood Indigo by Duke Ellington, Irving Mills and Albany Bigard; Gioacchino Rossini’s Duetto Buffo di due Gatti; and A Jubilant Song by Norman Dello Joio. The Statesmen perform Stroope’s Dies Irae (Day of Wrath); D.V. Montoya’s Jambo rafiki yangu; The Star Spangled Banner as arranged by Nina Gilbert; two men’s glee club Songs, Gaudeamus and Vive L’Amour, arranged by Alice Parker and Robert Shaw; Randall Thompson’s Testament of Freedom and The God Who Gave Us Life; Uzee Brown, Jr’s arrangement of the spiritual Hold On; and Rodgers & Hammerstein’s There is Nothing Like A Dame (from the musical South Pacific) in an arrangement by William Stickles.
Boyd Recital Hall is located in Wilson Hall on the campus of Rowan University, Route 322 in Glassboro. Admission to this performance is free and open to the public.
