GLASSBORO - Rowan University's Campus Players search for meaning in Eric Bogosian’s subUrbia, presented by the Department of Theatre & Dance on October 19, 20, 25, 26 & 27, 2007 at 8 pm and October 21 & 28 at 3 pm in Tohill Theatre.

In an American suburban, a group of disillusioned twentysomethings spend their time getting wasted and romanticizing their high school experience outside a local convenience store. They consume themselves with humor, anger and angst in an attempt to fill the void that suburban life can leave: "Look at us. We all dress the same, we all talk the same, we all watch the same TV. No one's really different, even if they think they're different." Nothing defines these kids and subUrbia takes a look at these issues with guts and honesty.

Director Dr. Elisabeth Hostetter has modernized the play for today’s audiences. Cell phones replace pay phones. Post-9/11 mentality replaces the original post-Cold War atmosphere. Contemporary rock music replaces the Sonic Youth soundtrack. "Think Cherry Hill," notes Hostetter in an attempt to offer a local reference point.

Hostetter is joined by a creative team that includes set designer Bart Healy, costume designer Amy Lobmeyer, sound designer David Cimetta and lighting designer Bob Thorpe. The cast features Andrew Clotworthy of Glassboro as Pony, Maggie Corl Doylestown PA as Sooze, Kelsey Malone of Tabernacle as Erica, Lyneris Nieves of Atlantic City as Patricia, Rachel O'Hanlon-Rodriguez of Teaneck as Bee-Bee, Michael Pliskin of Hainesport as Buff, Tim Rinehart of Cherry Hill as Tim, Nick Rossi of Mantua as Jeff and Juan Emilio Sanchez of Teaneck as Miguel.

Tohill Theatre is located on the lower level of Bunce Hall on the campus of Rowan University, Route 322 in Glassboro, NJ. Tickets are $10, general admission; and $5 for students, staff, alumni and seniors.  For information, visit www.rowan.edu/theatredance or call the box office at (856) 256-4545.
