Rowan University will kick off a year of events marking the 40th anniversary of the historic Hollybush Summit with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and rededication of Hollybush on Saturday, June 23, from 6 to 9 p.m. (invitation only) and an open house on Sunday, June 24, from noon to 4 p.m. (general public) at Hollybush Mansion, off Whitney Avenue on Rowan's Glassboro campus.

Both events will include tours of the recently restored mansion, a chance to speak with Summit observers and Rowan faculty and an opportunity for visitors to videotape their memories of the Summit and become a part of Hollybush history.

On June 23 and 25, 1967, U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson and Soviet Premier Alexei Kosygin met face to face for an historic summit at then-Glassboro State College to discuss the Arab-Israeli Six-Day War, which found them on opposing sides, and other world issues. While Johnson and Kosygin did not sign a formal agreement, they did acknowledge that the Hollybush Summit was successful, and the summit helped start to ease some Cold War tensions.

NOTE: We can arrange media tours of Hollybush, comments from Rowan President Donald Farish and a look at memorabilia prior to the June 23 and 24 events. Please contact us if you would like to visit campus for a preview. Also, you may view video of the Summit at http://www.rowan.edu/hollybush.
